It’s harsh noise, except less happens. Typically fairly long, typically just white noise, typically minimal if not no dynamics. Often abbreviated to HNW. If it’s quieter it’s ambient noise wall (ANW)
– Great, so what’s this compilation?
It’s called 100 Harsh Noise Wall Compilation. So basically 100 hours (give or take) of HNWs.
– Context?
I haven’t touched in with much in the HNW world for the best part of a decade — possibly since the Vomir / Clive Henry split — so I’m unsure as to whether the rules have changed or if some of these are not really HNW so much as they are long loops of harsh noise or slowly shifting harsh noise. Not all of it is all-in-the-red noise but, like, most of it is. Basically though everything here has the kind of meditative, harsh sounds over a duration that characterise HNW, so I’m happy to say it’s all HNW if you squint.– Is this fascist shit?
Not so far as I know, but a disclaimer — while I’ve not seen any signs that any of these acts are fascist, it’s noise music and you’re unfortunately never too far away from that shit. So apologies if any of these acts turn out to be the next Non and I’ve ended up platforming dogshit.
